Have you ever wanted to know more about the great people that make up our Association’s Committee? Follow us each week on the lead up to the Wolgan Valley Association Annual General Meeting on Sunday 11 September 2022 to learn more about each of the Committee members. This week it’s the Associations Secretary Andrew Chalk.
SECRETARY
My name is Andrew (pictured), and I am the Secretary of the Association.
Why did you volunteer for the position? I was conscious that landholders in the Valley share a lot of challenges and I’m a strong believer that collective action is almost always more effective. I was inspired by the efforts of Kristie and Sarah following the bushfires to keep the community informed and organised through their email group, Wolgan Recovery, and I felt that I had an obligation to pitch in and help.
What’s been the highlight of your involvement? Watching the young Association succeed in its grant applications for the funding of the community centre and the tanks, seeing the great generosity of our neighbours, and working with all of the other wonderful volunteers in the Association.
What have you learnt about yourself? I don’t enjoy Guinness quite as much as some of my neighbours.
Would you like to add anything else? We are incredibly privileged to have a stake in such a beautiful part of the world, but even more so because of the community in the Valley. It’s been a huge pleasure working with others involved with the Association and with our neighbours. They are all people I would happily trust in a crisis, and are good for a laugh every other time.
