The great people that make up our Associations’ Committee – Vice President Kristie Kearney

Have you ever wanted to know more about the great people that make up our Associations’ Committee? Follow us each week on the lead up to the Wolgan Valley Association Annual General Meeting on Sunday 11 September 2022 to learn more about each of the Committee members. This week it’s the Associations Vice President Kristie Kearney.

VICE PRESIDENT

My name is Kristie Kearney (pictured with husband John, son Seamus and dog Ruby), and I’m the Vice President of our Association.

Why did you volunteer for the position? I wanted to give back to a place that’s given so much and make a difference in our community. It was also a great opportunity to continue on the work of the Wolgan Valley community bushfire recovery group that Sarah Denmead and myself established following the bushfires in 2019.

What’s been the highlight of your involvement? The new friendships made and old friendships that have been strengthened. I feel very lucky to be in the company of such a great group of people that are just as passionate about the Valley as I am.

What have you learnt about yourself? I love the remoteness and solitude that we have here in the Valley, but one of the things that I have learnt since being involved with the Association is how much I also value connection with my community.

Would you like to add anything else? I can’t encourage people enough to get involved in or get behind the Association. You can just become a member of the Association if you like, maybe nominate as a Committee Member or donate some of your time on current projects that we have running. Give as little or as much of your time as you like. It all makes a difference in ensuring our Association is strong and that our voice as a community is heard.
