WE’RE Wolgan – Wolgan Emergency Response & Evacuation Plan

Welcome news from the NSW State Government with its Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund providing $300,000 to Lithgow City Council for the WE’RE Wolgan – Wolgan Emergency Response & Evacuation Plan.

Since its formation in January 2021, the Wolgan Valley Association has been lobbying local, state and federal governments to improve emergency preparedness and response of remote communities such as Wolgan Valley. A community survey conducted in January 2020 by the Wolgan Valley Community Bushfire Recovery Group following the devastating Gospers Mountain Megafire, found that respondents overwhelmingly highlighted a lack of communication by Lithgow City Council and the NSW Rural Fire Service Lithgow-Chifley Command with the Wolgan Valley community leading up to, during and post bushfire.

WE’RE Wolgan’s task is to engage with our community to develop an Emergency Response and Evacuation Plan to maximise our capacity to be better equipped for any future disasters and emergency events.

The Wolgan Valley Association looks forward to working with Lithgow City Council in the preparation and implementation of “WE’RE Wolgan”.
