Proposed Wolgan Valley Shelter and Community Centre Design Unveiled

After many months of planning and community consultation, the architectural drawings for the proposed Wolgan Valley shelter and community centre have finally been unveiled.

Earlier in the year the Association appointed highly respected Blue Mountains Architect Ingrid Donald to design this important community asset.

Ingrid has strong experience in bushfire resistant design, having designed numerous BAL-40 and BAL-FZ fire rated houses and commercial spaces in New South Wales. Her most notable commercial commissions include the Glenbrook Visitor Information Centre for Blue Mountains City Council and the Mt Colah Office of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.

In that time Ingrid has been working closely with the Wolgan Valley Association to prepare a design that will address the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and Australian Standards AS3959 specific bushfire construction requirements, provide a Neighbourhood Safer Place (NSP) during natural disasters including bushfires and floods, and become a welcoming space for creating connections and building a strong and vibrant community.

The Association is delighted with the design and incredibly impressed by Ingrid’s professionalism and strong understanding of the Association’s design brief for what will be an important asset to the community of Wolgan Valley and the Lithgow region.
